You are a team of Scavengers, about to depart on another mission to find supplies.
The Scavengers are at the bar again, and may cause some trouble but they’re good for business. Maggot is playing with his plastic apple, so this should be fun to see how it plays out. Nelly messes with him and Tom knocks her down. Expected. I manage to bank some favors for my adrenaline shots. The young girl gets a freebie. Lucy bothers Elijah a bit, but that small guy seems to have him covered. Messy with the whole Ascension thing. I hope Elijah will be okay.
She’s going to jump. I can’t let that happen. Greg and that girl are at the bottom of Babylon, just watching. I get to the top and my dear friend from last night (can’t remember his name) gives me strength and courage to carry out my will. Father Wayland tries to stop me, but there is no stopping now. I can’t let Lily jump. Something is pushing me forward as I hear bullets fire and see blood splatter. I’m close to the edge now, reaching out my arm for Lily. The Juggernaut is tearing me apart with his massive weapon. I think Wayland mentioned this would happen. I fall. Lily jumps after me and reaches for my hand. I reach for hers.
Gregory Mallard is here. I remember his father. Greg has a ragtag team of Scavengers that we are sending to Edgetown. Finally the failure we were waiting for has happened. We are giving them a bus and two pickups, along with some basic supplies. If all goes well they should only suffer one or two casualties. For the greater good of Purgatorium, of course. We are running low on supplies after all. No more questions! I have many more groups like this one to send out on other missions today.
I see three vehicles in the distance. Pa tells us to get off to the side of the road. Could be raiders. They probably outnumber us. They pass by without incident, although Pa catches some evil words spoken over the radio, about running us down. We can’t trust them. We keep walking but a sandstorm approaches. Pa says the vehicles would give us shelter. We follow them. They are parked in an old gas station that we missed. We don’t know the area as well as these people. Pa tells us all to approach the strangers cautiously, with weapons drawn. They tell us to enter and something about plan A. Pa says to prepare for a fight, but not to fire the first bullet. We are outnumbered after all. We get into the garage and several people tell us to lower our weapons. I take cover and someone shoots Pa. We shoot back and Pa rushes with his blade and pierces the neck of the attacker. Pa gets crushed by a large maul, Ma gets shot down, and I cower behind my cover, mortally wounded. I hear Ken trying to surrender, throwing his weapon to the ground, but they just shoot him down. I see the freak with the maul cut off Pa’s skin to patch up his ally. The Priest approaches me and offers to end my life. I don’t want to live without my family, and I don’t want to live while someone cuts off my skin. I embrace oblivion.
